pause

a lovely touch on hot chocolate served at a cafe.
the erythroniums before they start to curl back their petals
this is a chestnut sapling, nearly a foot high now, I found it one day when I was weeding, now its safely in a pot until a home is found(I might keep it in a pot till its quite large, but wouldn't plant it here, too big a tree for too small a garden).
the garden seems to enter a pause, as things are hardened off and I wait for seedlings to germinate, there's no shortage of things to do, but I may just have a hot chocolate and look at it in 'my minds eye' today.
my gardening friend, Billy, said the other day 'real gardeners, like you and me' which is so much a compliment as I never do anything how 'his dad' did so always feel he dissaproves slightly. bless him!

Oh, one can tell thru your blog you are a 'real' gardener with a magic touch -- so much so that I'm developing a complex that my gardening endeavors aren't nearly enough! Lovely photo of the chocolate today... Makes me want some too!

you are not only a 'real' gardener, Claire, you're a real artist. and i'm going to blame you for my decision to put a digital camera on the top of my 'saving my pennies for' list... BEFORE the Celtic harp that i so earnestly covet.

but then i'll have to spend some time learning how to be a 'real' blogger, as i haven't a clue how to post the photos.

Ok took me a while, but here I am:)

Photos are lovely as always.

I can imagine how much it meant to you for him to say what he said. If he read your blog, I am sure he would have said that long ago! It is clear you are a "real gardener" by your blog.

Speaking of, my daughter and I started some flowers of some kind FINALLY today in those little indoor peat moss greenhouse things, you know?? We are tickled! Couldn't tell you the name of them. Something colourful she chose in the store a few weeks back and has been after me since to get started. Need to clean up the yard to be ready to plant them. Hope I don't kill them first!

What a great idea for the hot chocolate! We always put whipped cream on our's and then sprinkle instant mulling spice. I will have to remember to find something fancy like that to do it with!!!

Wildside, I am not sure sometimes looking at the garden that I know what I am doing, i.e.the planting stuff on top of something else! done it more that once which is why I am starting a map.
Sigrun, hot chocolate and capuccino on offer if you want to visit!
Grannyfiddler, thankyou! hope you get a digital camera, I love foIk and traditional music. have to tell you my dad plays the Nothumbrian Pipes, I play guitar but am not up to public standard, tone deaf singing, oh my!!
Sandy, the hot chocolate was great, we sat outside and had a sea-view as well, lovely.
Lowa, glad you are growing flowers! its an exciting thing growing from seed, I love it. Billy likes to have everything in straight rows standing to attention, he dissaproves of my 'fling it all in' and he definatley doesn't see why you have to have decorations in the greenhouse( i have a mirror star and some hangy things, because I like them!)
