autumn garden

not much colour anywhere and its forecast to be frosty tonight again, its not been such a good year for flowers, too wet!
my compost bins are full(again) so as I clear the vegetable beds I am adding it to this pile under a black cover, this is the newest bed so is the one which can use the most 'matter. it should hopefully all degrade enough to be dug in come spring, and I will add a good amount of horse poo to it as well.

omlette

two red onions, green pepper, purple aubergine, sugar snap peas, yellow and green courgettes. all destined for a veggy omlette.
our recent frost has 'ended' the season in the garden, the onions are now lifted and drying in the greenhouse, the auergines and peppers are fading away so need cleared out from the greenhouse, the courgettes and peas need chucked into the compost. hopefully the leeks, brussels and parsnips will provide some winter food, and I'll see if lettuce will keep going in the greenhouse or a cold frame for a while.

cats vs. dog

on the very top of the wardrobe, the cats have taken refuge from
Cara, who is too bouncy and wants to play.
when they are fed up they will come down an terrorise the dog who will run away, till she gets fed up and chases them, then its back on the wardrobe for a while. . . endless fun. . .

falling standards?

I usually sieve my compost and then apply it to a recently weeded bed, but trying to fit everything in round the weather is taking its toll. Today I layered the compost complete with lumps and bits straight onto the garden, weeds included. Then I realised what's missing. . .a team of gardeners and a row of cottages at the bottom of the garden for them to live in. . .
the veg beds are being cleared as things finish, showing bare soil again. my recently emptied compost bin was filled to the top again with 'clearance' items.
and one small pumkin, yipee!! its raised off the ground to try and protect it, hopefully it will begin ripening before it gets too cold.

veggies

leeks, cabbages, brussels sprouts. I think I 've posted a picture of this bed before but I find it so pleasing to look at its getting another outing.
broad beans, these have now all been harvested and eaten, the row cleared away. its that time of year when things start to stop.
Tansy supervising from under the runner beans.

tagged meme

I have been tagged by Primrozie and anyone reading may consider themselves also tagged so please join in!

The Rules"Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves.
People who are tagged need to then report this on their own blog with their 7 random facts as well as these rules.
They then need to tag 7 other garden blogs and list their names on their blog.(except I'm leaving this open to readers)
They are also asked to leave a comment for each of the tagged, letting them know they have been tagged and to read the blog."

7 random facts/habits about me:

1. I hate to start the day without 3 cups of coffee(with caffine, not the decaffinated muck). failure to do so makes me very grumpy till about 10am when I actually wake up.
2. I also drink tea(with caffine)throughout the day as too much coffee is bad for you.
3. I also drink herbal tea(without caffine) during the evening or I would never get to sleep, re-all that caffine.

4. I have been a vegetarian for over 25 years.
5. I loathe housework and cooking.
6. I like to live in a tidy house and eat good food (agony#!!!)
7. I'm not actually sure if this meme is meant to be about gardening and if it is there is only one thing to say -ORGANIC- with lots of horse poo..
