I'd been over to read the link before I noticed you'd posted your bit here. How very nice you have admirers of your gardening skills.
I'd agree that daffodils are a favorite for the same reason - especially here where winters can be so long and harsh.
Your idea of having a wild area near the garden shed reminds me of the Findhorn philosophy.
