Repsoting old post...... to go out riding ... from November 12th 2010

''Abbey wears a treeless saddle by Barefoot and a Parelli Hackamore which is just made of rope. and she has no shoes on, I would consider boots if we did a lot of work but as its usually just round fields or in the soft schooling area then they are not needed.''

hang onto this thought from nine years ago... new post coming.. lol

Nice photo. Today mad with the car: driven to airport, dump, library and soon to do shopping, so looking at this makes me feel far more relaxed!

Claire, what are boots?

Wildside, Abbey is barefoot, if I had to work her long distances or on the roads a lot I could use these 'horse' boots to protect her feet http://www.easycareinc.com/
I do not want her to have metal shoes nailed on as it restricts a lot of natural hoof and body mechanics.

Thanks for explaining that, Claire...
I think we had shoes on ours, but perhaps not all, as they didn't get ridden much, only for cattle round-ups in the age before 4-wheelers became the thing. And then only one or two. Otherwise they roamed free -- what a life! I like what you say about the shoes, it makes sense, something I've wondered about...

i just had to follow the link to see what you were talking about... i always though nailing pieces of metal to horses' feet was a bit medieval..... but can you get them in Pink?

i hope the 'new' car is as long lived and reliable as the old Fiesta.

6 inches of snow here now.... i'm soaking in your green.
