spring into mud...

 Monday Mornings...

well, you have to laugh... there isn't any point trying to brush it off either as some of it is still wet...

weather is rain off and on, occasional ray of sundhine, more rain.

a friend said mud is good for the complexion, my reply was that her bum must have the best complexion ever then... lol

Met Office Weather , I have Wednesday off work so I hope its drier.

Today:

Somewhat cloudy with a few light showers Tuesday morning, perhaps persisting until early afternoon. Generally becoming clearer with sunny spells through the day as winds become lighter. Maximum temperature 12 °C.

Tonight:

Dry through the evening but cloud gradually building from the south. Lower cloud with a few outbreaks of rain arriving around midnight, continuing until dawn. Minimum temperature 5 °C.

Wednesday:

A cloudy morning with outbreaks of light rain. This gradually clearing east to allow some sunny spells in the afternoon. Drier and clearer all day for Argyll and the Isles. Maximum temperature 10 °C.

the passing of internet friends

Henry E Parker and his beloved Miss Peaches. they will be riding free now.

funny old place the internet, no less a friend for never having met in person, over the years the shared interest in Parelli Horsemanship, the trials and tribulations of forever learning, and finding peace. sharing personal thoughts and being a good presence on the ''cloud''.

he will be missed by many.

many miles to go

the lovely Quince with her rosette for taking part in ''September Miles'', about once a year friends get together ''online'' , we log our riding miles for the month and then we have rosettes for it. I think last year we did a whole years worth, and one of the other ladies got the rosettes for us.
I had a nice afternoon collecting leaves in the garden yesterday, not that I would ever be able to clear them all up, they fall faster than you could rake... I got a good amount and added them into the compost, it won't be just leaf mould as its a mixed bin for now.  Today was so windy a lot of the leaves have blown off the tree and even the ones on the ground have blown away , so I was glad I made the effort to do something yesterday.
Also yesterday, I took Quince out just a short walk, riding, as she's had more than a week off recovering from a couple of swollen legs from a kicking match in the field, horses will be horses...... she had a Photonic Redlight treatment, which is an amazing thing , she's had a couple of treatments over the last two years, how it works I don't know, but it does.

treeless.. back to tree'd.. back to treeless today.

a second hand Barefoot saddle, picked up today. I've had a short ride with it..
things don't change much for me over time.. lol. Quince is barefoot, I rode her in this headcollar today but usually use a bridle with a bit.
herself looking good for a wet muddy winters day.

Repsoting old post...... to go out riding ... from November 12th 2010

''Abbey wears a treeless saddle by Barefoot and a Parelli Hackamore which is just made of rope. and she has no shoes on, I would consider boots if we did a lot of work but as its usually just round fields or in the soft schooling area then they are not needed.''

hang onto this thought from nine years ago... new post coming.. lol

playing with ponies

building blocks....
training from the ground up.
its not all about riding, its getting used to different things, its accepting that when you're asked to walk past something scary you can trust the rider and go...
she's learning trust, sometimes very sceptical...

fat shiny pony

summers here with dry weather. lots of buttercups in the field. .. looks pretty but not really what you want . still plenty of grass as all ponies putting weight on.
looking forward to a week of warm weather so I might give Quince a bath, not sure what she'll think of that.,,, got some citronella shampoo that helps to keep the flies off.

to go in the trailer

a bit dark but a record of out practice. Quince is not fond of small spaces. if I want to take her on outings then she needs to learn to tavel in this box to tow on the road. a friend very kindly took the time to bring her trailer down so we could walk through... its okay walking in but a panic starts at midway and Quince just wants to get out and quickly... so we spent an hour just walking through till she could do that calmly. I used a clicker to mark good moments and treated with pony nuts.
hopefully get another practice soon.
