I stopped to take these pictures on the way to Tayvallich on Friday. there's lots of infortation about the canal on this link 'Crinan Canal' . I don't think you could easily paddle its length in a kayak but I'd like to do it in a nice big boat, g&t in hand!!
a friend from Egland reminisces fondly about summer holidays as a child, on family trips along the canals near her home. sounds like a lovely way to spend a holiday. i'm near the Peace River, which is a moderately large river, and can be treacherous in bad weather, but a day trip just drifting downstream in the canoe under the hot sun is hard to beat.
Grannyfiddler, I have looked at hte canal barges and they look great for a holiday but too expensive for me. I could do the floating bit though, thats free! Wildside, I have been called that before .... I once volunteered to be the 'body' for a rescue training weekend after which my whole body was wrinkled.
Again, lovely photos! Thanks for sharing this lovely canal. It's so interesting sight seeing through the blogs :) We have the Erie Canal and the Barge Canal, not too far away from us, running across NY State. Very interesting to visit. I love the name Tayvallich. The UK has some fascinating names. Here we have lots of Indian names and Australia has some great Aborigine names. But I love the English, Scottish, etc. names best. Very quaint :) There's something very comforting about them.
A lifetime of kind horsemanship, I think we were doing natural horsemanship before it was ''invented''
I have completed Level One with Quantum Savvy Natural Horsemanship.
I am sad I can no longer access the Parelli learning platform, its just too expensive with too many changes.
I've tried some clicker training with good results , but haven't found any one person to wholly agree with. I guess I'll just need to keep trying to see what works

You were a "water baby", born to water, yes?
