tree branches

I was dreading it... but seven large branches have been cut off the tree... and I think it looks great. I know you can see the stumps , but the shape of the tree is still  nice. it was overhanging the path and road, and covering half the garden in shade.
large branches will go to a friend with a fire, smaller branches are cut up for stakes to use in the garden, and all the twigs and leaves will be disposed of or maybe composted.
I'm grateful for friends with a chainsaw and time to help ''process'' the results... at one point nearly the whole garden was covered in branches.

little by little

The twisted hazel is difficult to get under and into. One branch was really getting to the greenhouse so I've reluctantly taken it off... its a crazy thing to prune back so I just went as close to the base as I could, with a saw.
There is another branch reaching the same way, but I'll leave it for now. Also took height off the hedge from behind the greenhouse, little by little , and maybe in a year or so it will believe its a hedge again and not Trees.... eeeeek.

I've had a long weekend off work and intended to start some seed planting. Lost impetus..... mostly due to weather and temperature swings from 9c to -2c with a bitter wind.

leaves, a lot

I've had a couple of leaf collecting sessions, not to tidy up but to add them to the compost and to feel they aren't being wasted. The tree has hardly any left now, I will try to remember to take a couple of photos with the little camera.
I sometimes feel I have no inspiration/imagination left, which is sad as I used to love to take photo's and post them on here. The lack of a decent camera does not help , though its said a good workman does not blame his tools? I just don't think you get as good a photograph with the little compact and there are no funds for better.
There have been fireworks nearly every night for two weeks now, last night they were still going off near midnight and tonight they have started from half five, Casper is hiding in the desk cupboard again.

Sunday Garden

the box is being removed, so took some pictures before that was out.. I've already removed a considerable spread of its overgrown branches. likely some will sprout from the remaining roots.
 the tree
twisted hazel.. and strangely the greenhouse has solid sides...
minus a veggy bed in the foreground.. allowed to grow over.. and only one cold frame

constrained by trying to save the azalea behind and the bricks at the front
I resorted to cutting the roots as I found them with secatuers
 and its out
 massive spider in the greenhouse
dug out.. put back in ... see if we can grow legs and christmas baubles..

2019. and here we go again...........

todays picture of ''the tree'' , quite some difference in height. it was planted around 2005.
2008, Tansy attempts to climb it but there's not a lot to hold onto. she would love it now. sadly she passed away a couple of years ago.
for just now I am back living in my flat. the garden is good though overgrown and the soil has no ''life'' and needs attention.
time will see what happens.

november

November seems to be passing quickly, this photograph from the beginning of the month, I think most of the leaves are off the trees now. dark nights and cold weather, I go to bed earlier to keep warm, so read a lot more than do anything else.
I like this photograph except for the pylon in the background. not sure  my editing skill are up to removing that, Abbey is keeping well and I ride out when the weather is not too bad. needless to say this waterproof rug is now in the 'to be mended' bag... again... wish for endless money to buy pony rugs...

photo update

Kilcreggan looking over to Greenock on the River Clyde(photo not taken last night but showing equally idyllic conditions) a hard paddle back then. . . .
photograph taken late evening sunday, as the sun hit the tree you could see the clouds building up behind the hills. also showing the 'rhubarb bed' edged in paving stones, just at the moment the rhubarb is about 6inches across, it'll grow!
