hide and seek

the tree sprites are playing hide and seek round Kilmartin
ready or not. . . .
be careful not to fall into this 2000BC burial tomb, its part of a cairn
Nether Largie South Cairn, a burial chamber(megalithic chambered tomb) believed to date back to 3000BC.

Wow, that burial chamber is so cool! And the tree sprites fun. It's now time for "scarecrow contest" around town; I'm not joining in other than to view and enjoy, but the tree sprites remind me of all the characters we might see sitting out in surprising places...

I love the tree sprites - around the villages here we have scarecrows, teddy bears, and all manner of contests and the villages are bedecked with huge characters - it really makes one smile

Lovely posts Claire

Wonderful, very interesting! Looks important as it must have taken considerable effort to construct. I must put Scotland on my list...

Wildside, I can't how 'awsome' the cairns are, some of the stones are massive and relly makes me wonder how they moved them and built these structures.
Allotment Lady, the 'tree sprites' are cheery things, they were in the school playground.
Michael, Kilmartin has many, many sites like this, I wonder at them. This is a great country, and you drive round it in one go, not like Canada! how long would that take, months?
Crunchy Carpets, aren't the sprites fun?

The sprites are so much fun :) And I love that stone fence!
Fantasic history in those tombs and great pictures. Thanks for showing us these. Makes me want to come to Scotland so badly!
Such a beautiful place.

hmmnn. I was wondering why the tree sprites are appearing. "no reason" is as good as any. We have Hallowe'en approaching and scarecrows and goblins as decorations are starting to appear on porches and at gateways. I love this time of year.
