Sunday afternoon

A garden open under the Scottish garden scheme, the entry fee goes to various charitys. I love these poppys.

this rockery must once have had a path to walk round but it has been completly taken over by these primulas and ferns.

nice garden ornaments
and sheep may safely graze

I liked this display best.

Hi Claire,
Cheryl and I were looking at your blog together and those flowers are simply gorgeous. What is a viola? Is it something of the violet family? Also what are the red things you dug up, steamed and ate? We have something eating our beets leaves and don't know what to do about it. Sigh.

All your photos are lovely but the light, color, and composition of the poppy at the top is stunning!

Ramblin, a viola is just the same as a violet. the red things are an early potato called Red Duke of York, because I lost an extra bit of garden I used I planted them all in pots, those were the first ones I tipped out.
Jim, both the poppy photos were cropped from larger photos to eliminate background distractions, they are the most amazing colour of poppy, I am quite jealous!

Jim, yes I liked the sheep, and the potates were indeed lovely.

I love that poppy too! I think I might need to find one for our garden.
