fly away Blossom....

I picked her up from the floor about ten days ago, she had flown into the rafters the day before but the next day she was down... an exhausted lost racing pigeon. A local falconer checked her over as uninjured but nothing left of her, no muscle .. nothing. She was kept quiet in a cat basket with proper food and today was driven a distance to be returned to a delighted owner reunited with her sister who was missing her.
Huge thank you to Gill for taking her down.

a kiss and a goodbye

I was trying to take a close up photo of a wild orchid in the field... instead I have a big kiss from Pardouc.
and this lovely old lady, Lark, who had been in my care for a few  months, she was found to have an abscess in the bones of her foot, so she was put to sleep. she hated being indoors and could never face an operation that requires up to a year of rehabilitation. she was a sweet quiet soul, glad she is not in pain anymore.

The National Forest Wood Fair set to bring family fun this summer

The National Forest Wood Fair information

Celebrating its tenth year this August, the National Forest Wood Fair attracts over 5,000 visitors from across the UK every August Bank Holiday Monday.

This year, the event will feature 100 exhibitors and live demonstrations of woodworking skills, craft displays and chainsaw sculpting.

The event aims to raise awareness about The National Forest and the need to protect and cherish the environment, and increases visibility of how wood is used and can be used.

Vitax - one of the UK’s leading specialists in the manufacture of garden and horticulture products – has signed a two year deal to sponsor The National Forest’s Wood Fair in 2014 and 2015.

The fair will take place on Monday, 25 August from 9am-6pm at Beacon Hill Country Park, Leicestershire.

nice time out today

a nice ride of just over three miles.. up to the entrance to the moors and back is two miles so the ''loop'' must be a mile..it looks like an upside down coat hanger... lol...

unfortunate incident with a car that came towards me and went past too fast.. then it turned around and passed me again from behind too fast again... and yet again it turned round though thankfully another car came up behind me so the fast one slowed down. then I was on the moor and didn't see it again when I came out... I have reported them to the police.

route tracker

the route tracker I use is Endomondo, it lets you plot your course, if you've got a fancy enough mobile phone then you can use that to follow yourself on GPS.... lol.. not me.. I just draw it on when next on the laptop. this ride today along the road to the moors entrance, not enough time to do more, total of 2 miles.

It was warm for a coupe of days so I took all the mares rugs off, but its gone a bit chilly again so I put Lark's back on as she is a bit finer,,., Abbey still out in the rain rugless bless her..

Re-posting to remember her by..

I was told recently that this lovely pony passed away late last year. I spent a lot of time with her over the few years before I bought Abbey.
original post said  """Katie likes a good roll in the mud so she's not often clean, I've just washed her and here is the evidence....underneath mud is a pretty pony!"""
"""here she is drying off in a new rug I've bought her, it 'wicks' so should help dry her and she can use it to travell in. next weekend we're off to do a course with Quantum Savvy, there's a link on my sidebar."""

I still have the burgundy striped cooler, its been used on many horses now.

awesome photograph

I wish I knew who took it to give them credit, but its off the internet.

I hope to remember this and if there is a downed tree I am going to try to take one like this.

its all a matter of learned perspective

Looking back at things and realising how it started, how it played, how it ended..... I ought to  remember articles like this one and realise whats happening at the time. People are always 'taking a loan' of me. I like to think people are honest and nice, unfortunately I am often dissapointed.
yes its easy enough to see things when you look back.

flowers to add cheer.....

Cheerful bulbs in a pot, sitting at the caravan doorstep. I though they might all get blown away today but they're fine!
Having 'moved' a lot of my activity on the internet to facebook I find that I can't really be 'me' on facebook, that it becomes a very public thing, people who come to where I work as customers, my boss and her family.
I find facebook a great way to keep in touch with a lot of people, my family included!! Its great for oraganising things and not getting missed out.
However I am returning to  my blog with any of my opinions, not so much that they are out of order but because not everybody needs to know them.
I practice smiling in front of a mirror.
and still today four different people who know me outside of the workplace came up to me and said I looked exhausted and  miserable. I apologised and said that wasn;t what I wanted to convey to people when I was at work.
but that was today, tired out and sad.

tis the season to be grumpy... tra la la la la

only seen Abbey in the dark all week, she decided now she is frightened of the torch... the same torch we have had for years... bless.

oh how I laugh... start at 8, an hour for lunch and finish at 5....... well three weeks into the new job all I can say is that I definitely start at 8 anyway.

a few friends have mentioned horses having a break and having the winter months off work, I'm  not sure how I feel about that but it currently seems to be happening.

and its cold... how acclimatised you are to central heating and double glazing... now I have neither.

the 'curtain'

this has been out latest thing to practice. I think Abbey is doing very well with it.

are we seeing the same thing..

reflections.. horses have monocular and binocular vision.. and blind spots... they will raise. lower and tilt their heads to focus on something...
and excellent hearing...
so those invisible monsters I can't see.. she can see and hear them, rushes to protect me from them by leaping sideways ... lol.. bless.

not kicking the bucket yet

I often open the stable door to find this.. sometimes she has both feet in... she split the sides of her last pink bucket, I think this one is half an inch wider so she might find it a better bucket to stand in... lol. I love my pony.

me and Hugo at Horse Agility training, on a loose hand hold, this is the third time I have played with him and he  just gets better and better.
very careful with his feet through the s-bend, doesn't knock the poles at all.

social media

I find myself moving away from the 'blog' and towards more popular social media. its and instant access, lots of people on it, people you see in person every day are on it too...
has this blog become the social media of  my past?
theres a lot of happy memories on here.
opinions and photographs, what are they to me now?
I don't know.
the other social media becomes a great waste of time, accessing it several times a day seems to be the normal pattern. unfortunately I have a lot of time to waste at the moment so that's what I do.

reposting..Robbie at Trec 2007.. to remember him

Robbie in his lorry on the way home
Barbara Ann drove him in a Trec event today
with Dave and I as 'grooms'
and he won these, and as its a special event, the grooms got rosettes too!

what a fabulous day that was. lovely weather and good company. Robbie reached a lovely old age of 23 and was put to sleep recently, he had a couple of old age related issues which meant he was getting unhappy in his life, his owners have the best thing for him as always through his life they did the best for him always. bless.

re;posting "exotic vines"

"Everyone who got where he is had to begin where he was."
Robert Louis Stevenson

a friend sent this quote to share and a photograph of this exotic Glove Vine of North America, thought to be very hardy but prey to gardeners who pinch things. . . .

going through some old posts and found this from April 2007.... lol. xx

posh frock on

This is Abbey in her best winter-wear posh frock, she did a good job of keeping it clean for the two days she had it on. The temperature went up overnight and she was too warm in it this morning. I was going to put her back out in her lighter one but I got told we've got a stable to use to use now; so her feet can get dried out for a few days.
Photos of stable to follow as my camera gave up after this photo, I bought ordinary batteries and the two sets have been hopeless. I am now charging up my last set of re-chargables as they seem to last well.

thinking of adding flashing lights....

here we are ariving back from a ride out in the rain. this is most of our 'bright' ... everything on but the leg bandages as her legs are too muddy. I'm also muddy .... never ending rain!!
