brrr......

late afternoon and the ice has not melted from the leaves of the purple sprouts(em, no sprouts actually just leaves!) the greenhouse temperature gauge showed a minimum of -5 C and a maximum of 18 C. it was a really sunny day so I did think it might have been a bit warmer in there. not sure of the outside temperatures, it would be interesting to have an outside one to compare.
this is the icy surface of..
this perfectly clear circle...
of ice formed in a bucket!
Katie eating hay, they eat out the centre and put their heads right in it. notice the rug is no longer clean, it still luminous enough to pick her out from a distance.

It's been so downright balmy here so far this Winter that it looks especially BRRR there!

A cold snap is heading this way.

Yes, what peppylady said is true, a cold snap is headed our way. I've been lulled into complacency by this weird warm winter weather allowing pea blooms to still show and many leaves yet hanging on the trees...

Now today, a blizzard warning that hubby will be out travelling in! It will be below freezing here soon & with a vengence if you believe the news. (But in any event, no matter what happens, they always say that we're going to die! Still I worry... Perhaps it is because I have some other worries too, compounding the problem!)

That's about as cold as it seems to be here. I had to go outside this afternoon to break the ice in the chicken's water so that they would at least have a chance of drinking. The bird bath and bucket-for-the-dog were both frozen pretty solid.

And it's supposed to get worse for the next number of days! brrrrrrr!
