january

Abbey is mostly living out in the field now, she comes in overnight once or twice a week to get dried off, cleaned up and have her legs greased up.. waterproofing...  the weather is constantly dull and wet and the fields are sodden.
I have taken these photos with an old fuji camera that someone gave me. its in good working order though I find its 'technology' a bit stodgy and irritating... never look a gift horse in the mouth!! its a camera and it works!! and will have to be satisfied with it until I can raise some funds for something newer.

LOL -- "never look a gift horse in the mouth" -- I say that a lot too!
But sometimes I still do...

Glad to see these photos here.

Our horses lived outside all the time. They were happiest that way and lived a long time, but it is nice to see Abbey getting such loving care & attention!

most of the horses here are living out, about six or seven of them are in overnight and out during the day. the rest are on the same programme as Abbey, in for a couple of nights here and there, to make sure rugs are dry and fitting properly and legs are coping with being wet all the time, its so wet and muddy just now its never ending.

It's nice to see Abbey enjoying her dinner as she has a bit of a warm. Hopefully it won't be too much longer before you and all the horses get to enjoy some fresh spring grass. At least you have a few flowers.

they have large haybales put out and still are going off to eat grass and leave the hay standing. its a big field and is always drier down the far end so that's where they wander off to.
unfortunately we dread when the grass comes back in the spring as they all get too fat... the owner of the farm keeps saying she will fence down the middle and give them less to eat but I'm still waiting on it happening...

Do you have those flowers growing there now?!? WOW.
(I thought it must be an old photo you were posting til I read Susan's comment...)

those flowers are little stragglers left on a plant in the stable yard. you wouldn't be impressed if you saw the whole plant.. its very much bedraggled!!

Bedraggled -- a bit like me!

bedraggled or no, it's a flower! we're just pulling out of the darkest days of the year here on the north. i have a determined little house plant whose name i can't bring to mind that's blooming exuberantly, and a dear, reliable African violet that flowers persistently, but outside all is covered in snow and frost. Abbey looks content with her lot :0)
