a few days off work, nice and dry today so I'm not so much gardening as waging 'damage control' on borders and spaces which have not been weeded since last year!!!!
vegies being overgrown by 'italian aster', a lettuc left to go to seed, but I didn't realise it would take over!!
still, out from underneath things, the produce from a bucket grown potato, yum!

Hi Claire - I have only just come across your blog through sea kayaking links and really like reading what you write. The gardening you do is ispirational since I have only just begun to enjoying gardening this year. I hope our potatoes look as good as yours.
Nick
we've had very little rain here at all. the water from the hose is nearly liquid ice, so all my little green babies go into a state of shock whenever i water. i'm sure that's why nothing is doing well. so thanks for yet another stroll through your garden over coffee break, Claire.
Nick, well I haven't been out kayaking this year yet! theres been plenty of rain so your potatoes should be good!
GF, sorry your still a bit chilly, I fill my watering cans and leave them standing in the greenhouse to warm up before using them.
i used to keep barrels of water warming in the greenhouse, back when i had one.... but you've reminded me that letting the water warm a bit, even out of doors, is a good idea. i toast you and your potatos over morning java.
I thought I was the only one wrestling with last years weeds! My stone path has disappeared.
Your flowers are gorgeous.
Love red potatoes and peas. With white sauce on it.
Ah yes... Cut down the foxglove going to seed yesterday and harvested some yummy young potatoes for last night's dinner too... (Boiled, then simmered with some peas and freshly-picked mint...)
:-)
Also, Claire --
Let's you & me set a date and time and go out kayaking "together" -- for various reasons, shamefully, but most are valid, I haven't been out for over a year!
Life would be so much better if we'd just make time to get out on the water, now, wouldn't it?!? (But hey, I hear my shoulder already complaining... Grr! Stop that!)
You grow potatoes in a bucket?
Everything is lovely as always. I so enjoy coming over here.
I should get you to come and fix my poor neglected garden! Not done a thing in it since last year, though I have got some hopes to rectify that as soon as I am able! Still, if mine gets me down too much, I can always come and look at your pics!
Primrozie, my path has been strimmed, must get around to weedkilling it at some point!
Wildside, suffering 'shoulder and elbow here', perhaps a ferry ride?
Granny, potatoes do fine in buckets!!
Lisa, if I ever finish my weeding I'll get yours done next......ha...
