nice day today , looking at some gigs for sale which should fit Smokey, this is very nice and needs a few minor touch ups.
this is the first one we looked at, its been nicely repainted by its current owner, very smart.I'm quite jealous, it makes me wish I either had a horse or still worked with horses.
Gig! Now that the photos drawn I see I have learned a new use for that word. And here I thought you might be starting a band... ;-)

Wildside, I think a 'gig' just means a wee cart, ususally a 2 wheeler, to be technically correct I should say 'here we have a Bennington and a Seaton'. there is a big movement in America for working horses, I have a really good book by this guy;

I've also not heard of this being called a gig. In fact, as much as I've been around horses most of my life I don't remember ever hearing what this would be called... lol. However, I looked it up at Dictionary.com and sure enough, that's what it's called. I thought maybe it might be called different things in different countries, and maybe that is so, but gig is definitely one thing it's called.
ReplyDeleteI no longer have a horse (other than the one tattooed onto my right shoulder) but still have my saddles, other tack, and my dream to have horses again one day. I would totally love to have one I can ride and drive too, and a gig to use on the days I want to drive. I for sure would do the "go for groceries and such in my gig" thing. It really would suit my personality.
Alice, I didn't realise I was talking in some foreign language! I have always called them gigs, and I learned my horsey stuff from old folks. I always hoped Rosie would like a wee pony, which she would then grow out of and I could use for driving, but no, she prefered boys!I bought the kayak instead.

ReplyDeletedon't know what kind of kayak... never even been in one, but they're proving irresistable to me. i love boats and water, and want something i can handle and transport on my own. i'm very open to tips and suggestions.
