i have yet to explore your photo links, but wanted to share with you these incredible photos of hoverflies i found while trying to identify some insects in my yard: http://sensitivelight.com/hoverflies/ i found them to be quite extraordinary.
Wildside, the link seems ok from here, he has some good pictures , its funny to see all those things roundabout where you live, I didn't even know they were there. Norene, thats a great link, you should put it up on your blog, I find it difficult to identify stuff from books or pictures.
i just spent some time on geograph.org.uk--what a cool site! i love zooming in on the map and getting to look around an area via photographs. also looked at quite a few in your neck of the woods. got to see gorse in bloom. thanks for the links.
