Claire, I wish you were living closer to me so I could get first hand advice. Your garden looks great to me. My wife would enjoy you since she likes all kinds of plants as well. I have enjoyed your pictures of Scotland. It will never happen but I wish someday Cheryl and I could take a trip to Ireland and Scotland and see the homes of my ancestors. The McNeacailles (they go by Nickell now) came from Scotland and the Delaney's came from Ireland.
Sigrun, I had good 'new potatoes' in buckets last year, the plants this year all look quite healthy so I am hoping for a nice crop, even if they are small. Ramblin, you'd be welcome to wander round and I'll bore anybody who cares to listen!! Scots and Irish is a good fiery mix!!! Wildside, thankyou, I prefer how it looks when the fleece comes off, it just looks like piles of dirty laundry!! E4, thankyou, theres a little bit each of a lot of things, it makes the seed growing process a bit more exciting! just reading your truck story, not reallyl funny but had to laugh my car is an old heap too!!
